Eskrigge Social Research: Roger Clough


Eskrigge Social Research is directed by Roger Clough, but draws on the expertise and experience of other researchers in the field.

Roger Clough is now Professor Emeritus and works independently. Formerly held the chair of Social Care at Lancaster University: the department was one of the top two social work departments for research and teaching in the UK.

Has directed large-scale projects and research on tenders won from national bodies.

Former county councillor - chair social services, vice chair finance committees. Chief Inspector of Social Services, Cumbria County Council. Established author of books and articles on social care.

Expertise in residential care (children and older people) and in social care for older people.

Set up first university validated course for older people to train as researchers: group has set up as research co-operative.

Early work - teacher/housemaster in senior boys' approved schools.

Lecturing in social work in Bristol.
